  • Art galleries, antique and quilt shops and museums welcome visitors to learn more about the rich history and culture that Grand Rapids treasures. 
  • Judy Garland was born in Grand Rapids, and whose childhood home now hosts a museum in her honor.

Summer in northern Minnesota is about as close to heaven you can get and write home about it. Reserve a Morning Glory suite as your "base camp" and explore all that Northern Minnesota has to offer!

  • Itasca County is home to over 1,000 lakes and the Mississippi River offering ample opportunity for boating, canoeing, sailing, swimming and of course, fishing.
  • Birding is so popular in the areas surrounding Grand Rapids with several lakes and trails to scout out the warblers, ducks, eagles, hawks, owls and many others! So bring your canoe, bike, binoculars and at no extra charge we will provide the maps and a continental picnic breakfast! A 2-day notice is required please.
  • Minnesota's Grand Slam of Golf, featuring 72 beatiful holes are within 8 miles of your suite, just let us know when you would like a tee time and we'll take care of it. A trip to Grand Rapids is not complete without a visit to the Forest History Center, Minnesota's only authentic 19th century logging camp, complete with historical reenactors in period dress. 
  • Biking in northern Minnesota is all about the Mesabi Trail, running 130 miles from Grand Rapids to Ely; your biking adventures can begin or end at the Morning Glory Bed and Breakfast. We are a very bicycle friendly inn and encourage bicyclists to visit Bed, Breakfast and Biking to plan your bicycling trip.
  • A trip to Grand Rapids is not complete without a visit to the Forest History Center, Minnesota's only authentic 19th century logging camp, complete with historical re-enactors in period dress.
  • Mining enthusiasts, you are within easy driving distance to the Hill Annex mine where you can search for fossils of ancient shark's teeth or visit the man made "Grand Canyon of the North" at the Hull-Rust mine, the world's largest operating open pit iron mine.
  • The mining mega museum, the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm, brings to life the history of the early 20th century Iron Range, and is just a short 45 minute drive from your suite.
  • Summer in Grand Rapids is not complete without such local favorite activities as, The Mississippi Melodie Showboat, the Itasca Vintage Car Club Show and Swap Meet, Tall Timber Days and Boundary Waters Blues Fest.

Autumn in northern Minnesota is arguably the best time of year. Hiking or driving in the Chippewa National Forest or on the Edge of the Wilderness Scenic Byway near Grand Rapids provides for a kaliescope of fall colors.
